Film 1510 - The Lion King

Intro: For once we had a long lunch break, so we decided to spend our time watching not just one, but two movies one after the other!
Film 1510: "The Lion King" (1994), Roger Allers, Rob Minkoff

Briefly: one of the best movies Disney ever produced, "The Lion King" is still rockin' it! After a sequel ("The Lion King II: Simba's Pride") and a prequel ("The Lion King 1½") and two television series ("Timon and Pumbaa" and "The Lion Guard"), next year will be the time for the CGI remake directed by Jon Favreau. The lion is roaring loud and clear!;
it's impossible not to cry when Mufasa dies. It's such an emotional scene, so perfectly achieved. And the fact that this is a family movie targeting kids and teenagers, it's even more impressive how they managed to deal with death and loss. Chapeau.;
the songs are amazing, one of the best stuff you can find here. They're catchy, funny, and impossible to forget. "Hakuna Matata" is brilliant, "Can You Feel the Love Tonight" powerful, "I Just Can't Wait to Be King" delightfully entertaining. My personal favourite though is "Circle of Life".;
surely one of the best animated movies ever made. Entertaining, smart, dark enough and morally satisfying, "The Lion King" is the perfect choice either for kids and adults who want to enjoy a great story and a very well drawn movie art piece.

Worth watching?: it's undoubtedly one of the best known animated movies ever. What should we ask more from a single movie? Nothing. So just enjoy the pleasure of watching it.
