Film 2510 - Practical Magic

Intro: Kate and I watch a lot of stuff together in the living room, lately especially "The Traitors", as we're both obsessed. After finishing the second season of the Irish one and before UK Celebrity season 2 started, we decided to take a break from it all and watch a movie for a change. And because the sequel to this one was about to come out -- and, crazy enough, Kate had never seen the original film -- we opted for this cult classic.

Thoughts: I've seen "Practical Magic" many times in the past and, somehow, it's always a comfy, cosy watch.
On paper, it shouldn't even work -- the pace and tone of the story are all over the place -- but the overall charm of this film and the incredible chemistry between its two protagonists, Sandra Bullock and Nicole Kidman, more than make up for it.
And sure, look, it's not groundbreaking or a landmark in cinematic achievement, but it is a magical fairytale in its own right and, overall, a lovely movie to (re)watch.

Worth a watch?: This movie encapsulates the charm of the late '90s, perfectly capturing the vibe of a small American town. Add to the equation two movie stars in their prime, two iconic veterans (Dianne Wiest & Stockard Channing), and a darker-than-expected witch story, and you get "Practical Magic" -- the perfect movie to watch right now, as the leaves start to fall and Halloween is right around the corner.
