Thoughts: I'm not a fan of SpongeBob, but I'm aware of the lore behind it. It's not that I don't like it, it's just that it came out when I was already too old to properly enjoy it. That said, I think "The SpongeBob Movie: Search for SquarePants" is a fun ride and true enough to its source material (or what I know about it, anyway). This movie is all I expected from a SpongeBob film: silly, funny, and a bit crazy, but overall entertaining and extremely creative, especially visually. So no complaints from me here, I had a really nice time watching this film.

Worth a watch?: If you're a fan, go for it. And even if you're not, there's plenty to enjoy here. It's no masterpiece, but it's fun, lighthearted entertainment. Ice Spice's "Big Guy" drills into your brain and stays there for days because of how repetitive it is, so be ready for it.

Sempre sotto l'influente suggerimento della proposta Netflix...

Pensieri: Ebbene sì, lo abbiamo visto. Volontariamente.
Non avevo mai visto SpongeBob e a malapena sapevo di cosa si trattasse in generale, per cui questo primo approccio alla "matreria" è stato di fatto conoscitivo. Non male, dopo tutto, anche se non credo riuscirei a reggere per un periodo prolungato la visione di più di qualche veloce episodio. Di fatto il colorato mondo sottomarino della spugna coi pantaloni e dei suoi amici e frenetico e maledettamente rumoroso, oltre che cantilenante in maniera a volte irritante. Dunque a piccole dosi.
Non mi aspettavo, tra l'altro, un cast così nutrito per l'esperimento da grande schermo: Alec Baldwin, David Hasselhoff, Scarlett Johansson, Jeffrey Tambor, tutti nomi di non poco peso per un prodotto assolutamente mirato al target infantile.
Tutto sommato, quindi, "The SpongeBob SquarePants Movie" non è stato così terribile come, invece, mi immaginavo. Simpatico, coloratissimo e direi perfetto per i bambini.

Consigli: Decisamente per un pubblico giovane, molto giovane o comunque familiare, in ogni caso un cartone animato sufficientemente divertente. Ecco, non siamo a livello Disney - Pixar, ma per una situazione di disimpegno e divertimento, può essere il titolo giusto.
