Film 1429 - Enough

Titolo scelto un po' a caso tra quelli presenti nel catalogo Netflix (ok non è vero, non così a caso: quando ho visto che c'era, ho scelto di vederlo di proposito...).

Pensieri: Si sa che JLo ha tanti talenti ma che tra questi di sicuro manca quello per la recitazione. Anche qui, soprattutto avendola seguita in lingua originale, posso dire che le buone intenzioni ci sono tutte, ma l'inadeguatezza per un ruolo più difficile e impegnato del solito si sente particolarmente.
I momenti drammatici sono quelli più complicati dove una contrita Jennifer sfodera una vocina che più stridula non si può e una serie di rughe d'espressione sulla fronte a suggerire il disagio del suo personaggio, eppure non si può fare a meno di notare l'innaturalezza e lo sforzo che la cantante/attrice è costretta a fare, pur ottenendo solamente un risultato mediocre.
Di certo non è aiutata dalla sceneggiatura, tanto mediocre quanto prevedibile, capace di salti temporali applicati con disarmante facilità, tralasciando troppo spesso approfondimenti importanti, primo fra tutti la questione della piccola figlia, per la maggior parte del tempo totalmente accondiscendente e apatica nei confronti di una situazione familiare allo sfascio e non poche volte pericolosa. JLo risolve in fretta: se la porta dietro per tutta l'America sena dirle o spiegarle nulla e affronta l'argomento solo quando il Dottor Carter di "ER" le tampona e sperona con la macchina per tentare di farle andare fuori strada. Mah...
Dunque una sorta di concorso di colpa tra un casting sfortunato e una storia non esattamente indimenticabile per un risultato finale che è banale, sì, ma non così tremendo come uno potrebbe aspettarsi. C'è ritmo e un certo pathos dal momento in cui cominciano le botte e bisogna ammettere che non si può fare a meno di domandarsi come farà o cosa architetterà JLo per scappare dalle grinfie del marito da sogno trasformatosi in incubo. Da questo punto di vista il film mi ha ricordato moltissimo alcuni prodotti simili basati su una protagonista che, sola ad affrontare il dramma, si rimbocca le maniche per salvarsi ed affrontare una situazione altrimenti potenzialmente mortale; penso a "La prossima vittima", "A letto con il nemico" o "Colpevole d'innocenza" o tanti altri ancora. Come tutti questi titoli, anche "Enough" sembra più interessato a rappresentare la violenza in maniera particolarmente cruda e dettagliata finendo per sacrificare quello che potrebbe essere invece l'aspetto più interessante della storia se approfondito, ovvero la componente psicologica. Forse ad Hollywood c'è meno tempo per pensare e tendenzialmente solo quello per reagire...

Consigli: Mi pare evidente che ci sia la volontà di presentare al pubblico una storia che abbia non solo un senso, ma anche una sorta di valore. Nonostante questo e il fatto che si tratti di un adattamento del bestseller "Black and Blue" di Anna Quindlen, bisogna ammettere che si sia davanti ad un prodotto mediocre, di puro intrattenimento e a tratti voyeuristica caratterizzazione tanto ci si prende del tempo per rappresentare le violenze domestiche. Detto ciò, tra tutto quello che ho visto fare a Jennifer Lopez, questa è certamente una non solo delle sue parti migliori, ma anche delle sue interpretazioni più decenti. Non so se possa essere di consolazione per qualcuno - o addirittura incuriosire -, in ogni caso un titolo assolutamente perdibile, eppure innocuo se scelto per una serata con qualche venatura thriller.

Film 939 - The Librarian 2 - Ritorno alle miniere di Re Salomone

Visto il primo, era sinceramente curioso di capire se la produzione si fosse raffinata un po' con questo capitolo successivo...

Pensieri: Anche questa seconda avventura del librario più spericolato che c'è si avvale di un protagonista teoricamente capace, contornato da una serie di baggianate pseudo fantasy misto avventura ed effetti speciali da far pena. Non che fosse sospettabile un incremento qualitativo, ma la speranza rimaneva.
Come per il precedente "The Librarian - Alla ricerca della lancia perduta", anche qui la storia raccontata prova a calcare le orme dei ben più meritevoli di considerazione Indiana Jones e "La Mummia", piazzando indizi in giro per il mondo per colorare di esotico il tutto, ma poi utilizzando effetti speciali computerizzati che sono qualcosa di imbarazzante (i fantasmi finali sono tra il kitsch e l'infantile). Per non parlare della (blasfema) citazione continua a "Casablanca", dove cercano invano di far assomigliare Noah Wyle ad Humphrey Bogart (rido).
Insomma, niente di nuovo sotto il sole, anche questo "The Librarian: Return to King Solomon's Mines" è un'avventura all'acqua di rose, titolo per famiglie di facile consumo e di resa francamente insufficiente che non fallisce del tutto solo grazie all'evidente intento ludico e la sottintesa mancanza di pretese di alcun tipo.
Ps. Due candidature tecniche agli Emmy del 2007 per le musiche e il montaggio sonoro.

Consigli: Al cast già visto nella precedente pellicola (Noah Wyle, Bob Newhart, Jane Curtin, Lisa Brenner e Olympia Dukakis) si aggiunge qualche nuovo elemento sconosciuto (Gabrielle Anwar, Erick Avari, Robert Foxworth), per un risultato finale conforme al precedente episodio. Anche qui parliamo di un titolo debole, ma perfetto per tutta la famiglia, una di quelle pellicole che non richiede alcuno sforzo intellettuale e si lascia placidament guardare (e dimenticare). L'obiettivo era di sicuro questo, quindi se si scende a patti col fatto che parliamo di un film tv mediocre e un po' cialtrone, la visione può essere piacevole, nonché conforme alle aspettative.

Film 938 - The Librarian - Alla ricerca della lancia perduta

Ero sempre rimasto con la voglia di volerlo vedere, incuriosito dai ben due sequel che questo film per la tv era riuscito ad ottenere...

Pensieri: Non che mi aspettasi nulla di che, ma alla fine nonostante tutti gli evidenti limiti, questo primo "The Librarian: Quest for the Spear" mi ha lasciato un simpatico ricordo, quasi tenero. Perché è come un tentativo (fallimentare) di condensare in un unico personaggio e in un'unica storia un mix tra Indiana Jones, "La mummia", "Il mistero dei templari" e in generale un po' tutti quei titoli di avventura, senza però averne né capacità né budget.
Noah Wyle fa quello che può per caratterizzare l'imbranato Flynn Carsen al meglio e lo stesso fanno i vari comprimari (Bob Newhart, Olympia Dukakis e Kyle MacLachlan in primis), ma la sceneggiatura è sciocca e propone una serie di avventure la cui realizzazione sullo schermo - piccolo o grande - richiederebbe più esperienza ed evidentemente un'iniezione pecuniaria più sostanziosa. In aggiunta a questa mancanza qualitativa di effetti speciali computerizzati si aggiunge l'inesperienza delle due "tipe toste" della storia, la cattiva Kelly Hu e la futura fiamma del protagonista Sonya Walger (già vista in "Lost"), le quali se le daranno pure di santa ragione, ma quanto si vede che fanno per finta non sto neanche a dirlo.
Pace, "The Librarian - Alla ricerca della lancia perduta" è un film destinato alla televisione commissionato dal canale via cavo TNT, ergo dubito fortemente che una resa quanto più realistica e una trama ben scritta fossero le primarie intenzioni del network; ugualmente non credo che i potenziali spettatori si aspettassero nulla di diverso. Quindi bene così, la formula più giocosa che drammatica deve aver funzionato considerati i due sequel e persino la serie tv di 10 episodi "The Librarians", già rinnovata per una seconda stagione. Dunque questo titolo sarà pure una scemata, ma è talmente evidente che non ci sono pretese di alcun tipo che si finisce per goderselo abbastanza da non detestarlo del tutto.

Consigli: Prodotto tipicamente per famiglie, adatto ad ogni tipo di spettatore che non desideri impegnarsi cerebralmente, "The Librarian - Alla ricerca della lancia perduta" è un filmetto tv che qualcosa lo azzecca, nonostante i suoi più che evidenti limiti. Sarà l'imbarazzato approccio nerd, il ritorno di Noah Wyle in tv finalmente senza il camice del Dottor Carter indossato per 15 stagioni (!), i teneri tentativi di copiare le grandi produzioni pur non potendo permetterselo... eppure alla fine segui tutta la storia e hai perfino voglia di vedere come prosegue. Se non si ha niente di meglio da fare, chiaramente.
