Film 2130 - Nerve

Intro: L'avevo iniziato a vedere poco dopo l'uscita nelle sale, ma lo avevo abbandonato per mancanza di interesse. Poi l'altra sera con Ciarán cercavamo qualcosa di facile facile da vedere e, cercando su Netflix, l'ho ritrovato. E gli ho dato una seconda possibilità...

In sintesi: col senno di poi, "Nerve" non è sicuramente peggio di tanti altri film che ho visto nella mia vita. Avrei potuto continuare a vivere sereno anche senza vederlo per intero? Sicuramente, ma considerato quante altre pellicole inutili ho comunque finito di vedere, non posso davvero dire che questo film si meritasse un trattamento differente.
Poi, per carità, l'ho trovato abbastanza inutile e non particolarmente innovatino nonostante proponga una storia dal piglio moderno e un po' provocatorio. La sensazione è che la provocazione stia tutta nella teoria, mentre nella pratica "Nerve" pare troppo preoccupato ad assicurarsi di mettere in scena tutti quei cliché che una parte di Hollywood pare proprio non riuscire a scrollarsi di dosso (voglio dire, nella prima mezz'ora di film ci becchiamo subito i due - bellissimi - protagonisti in mutande, nientemeno).
Insomma, questa pellicola lascia il tempo che trova, pur intrattenendo a sufficienza per la sua ora e mezza di durata.

Film 1475 - Detroit

Intro: Non che ne sia certo al 100% visto quanto in fretta e quante cose cambiano e succedono di recente nella mia vita, comunque credo si possa dire si tratti del primo film visto in questo 2018. In macchina, durante una delle nostre tappe verso il futuro lavoro… nel buco del culo del mondo (per gli interessati il Takarakka Bush Resort).

In sintesi: il film è un vero e proprio pugno nello stomaco, a tratti quasi un horror per quanto riesce a spaventare e tenere lo spettatore in balia di una storia tremenda e assurda, cruda, eppure verissima;
gli accadimenti ricostruiti in questa pellicola riguardano il vero episodio che, nel '67, vide protagoniste numerose sfortunate persone di colore succubi di una polizia corrotta e arrabbiata in una realtà, Detroit, in cui le rivolte per i diritti civili stavano trasformando la città in un vero e proprio campo di battaglia. La storia qui si concentra su uno degli eventi più traumatici a testimonianza della tensione e della precarietà della situazione;
la Bigelow dimostra di saper costruire un prodotto capace di centrare il suo bersaglio, anche se per farlo ci impiega all’inizio troppo tempo. La lunga scena nell’edificio che vede i poliziotti tenere in ostaggio senza un valido motivo le persone presenti nel motel è un piccolo capolavoro per quanto perfettamente architettata. Tensione allo stato puro, ricorda la sfuriata di DiCaprio nel tarantiniano “Django”;
tra i vari volti riconoscibili spiccano il John Boyega di “Star Wars” e, soprattutto, un Will Poulter magnifico, vero cattivo, perfidamente interpretato. Fa accapponare la pelle.

Box Office: $21.5 milioni
Vale o non vale: Sicuramente da vedere, se non altro per la tremenda – eppure vera – storia che racconta. C’è ancora molta attualità, purtroppo.

Emmy Awards 2017: nomination e vincitori

E siamo giunti al periodo dell'anno in cui la tv si riprende il suo spazio: appena rivelate le candidature ai prossimi Emmy Awards, che si terranno domenica 17 settembre (proprio quando me ne partirò per l'Australia mannaggia!) e saranno presentati da Stephen Colbert.

Television Academy Chairman and CEO Hayma Washington and celebrity presenters Anna Chlumsky and Shemar Moore announced the nominees for the 69th Emmy Awards on Thursday, July 13, 2017. The ceremony will be held on Sunday, September 17, 2017 at the Microsoft Theater in Downtown Los Angeles, California, and will be broadcast in the U.S. by CBS. The ceremony will be hosted by Stephen Colbert.
