BAFTA 2015: nomination e vincitori

Oggi era anche il giorno dell'annuncio delle candidature ufficiali ai BAFTA 2015, ovvero quelli che sono considerati gli Oscar britannici.

Giunti alla loro 68esima edizione, questi premi sono solitamente vicini agli Academy Awards anche per le cinquine principali come Miglior film, regia e attori, anche se di fatto tendono sempre ad essere più filobritannici, nonostante anche qui lo strapotere delle produzioni USA sia evidente. Ne è segno evidente che i BAFTA conferiscano premiazioni a parte per categorie specifiche come Miglior film britannico o Miglior debutto di un regista, sceneggiatore o produttore britannico. Insomma, la lingua è più o meno la stessa, ma anche l'orgoglio patrio vuole la sua parte.
La cerimonia di premiazione si terrà l'8 febbraio al Royal Opera House di Londra presentata anche quest'anno da Stephen Fry, alla sua decima esperienza di conduttore dell'evento.

Film 852 - Lo sciacallo - Nightcrawler

Ero molto curioso di vederlo, anche perché ero certo che sarebbe finito tra i possibili ad aggiudicarsi qualche nomination ai vari premi della stagione. Non mi sbagliavo...

Film 852: "Lo sciacallo - Nightcrawler" (2014) di Dan Gilroy

Pensieri: Sebbene sia stato felice di rivedere Jake Gyllenhaal e Rene Russo sul grande schermo e - finalmente! - con un titolo in grado di suscitare interesse e addirittura finire al #1 del box office americano (con il piuttosto modesto incasso del primo weekend di $10.4 milioni), non posso comunque dire che la cosa sia bastata a farmi piacere "Nightcrawler", primo esperimento registico dello sceneggiatore Dan Gilroy (sue le storie e sceneggiature di "The Fall", "Real Steel", "The Bourne Legacy").
La storia, inquietante e molto cruda, vede Gyllenhaal (per questo ruolo candidato ai Golden Globes 2015) interpretare Lou Bloom, un disoccupato disposto a tutto pur di lavorare che, per un caso fortuito viene in contatto con il mondo del giornalismo incentrato su servizi di cronaca nera. La disperazione di quest'ultimo, combinata al "desiderio di sangue" (da mostrare in tv) della direttrice del network televisivo per cui Lou finirà per lavorare saranno il motore di questo prodotto, più che film quasi esperimento sociologico.
Infatti la trama si spinge molto oltre e arriva a mostrare ciò che l'assenza di un limite - personale, etico, morale - può arrivare a creare: Lou diventerà, sì, un talentuoso venditore di sé stesso e pure di grande successo, ma a discapito dei molti che avranno la sfortuna di incontrarlo.
Nel concreto: vale più la vita dello sconosciuto o le immagini che lo ritraggono dopo la sciagura che gli è capitata? E, potendo evitargli il peggio, interverremmo?
Questi, ridotti all'osso, gli interrogativi che pone la trama de "Lo sciacallo - Nightcrawler" e, nonostante siano domande inquietantemente intriganti e la realizzazione della pellicola sia di fatto molto buona, rimane comunque la sensazione che a questo film manchi qualcosa, che sia solo un esercizio (antropologico) o un tentativo di stuzzicare il pubblico con una tematica molto forte. Dietro a quest'ultima, però, pare esserci poco altro, anche perché difficilmente lo spettatore si identificherà nel disturbato Lou o nella direttrice senza scrupoli - figuriamoci nell'ingenuo e sottomesso Rick (Riz Ahmed) -, quindi anche a livello di personaggi e pubblico rimane una certa distanza.
In definitiva, ribadendo che era ora che sia Gyllenhaal che Russo rivedessero la ribalta cinematografica, non posso comunque dire che questo film mi abbia convinto o mi sia piaciuto. Forse è troppo anche per me, forse gli manca qualcosa per essere meno disumano. Non lo rivedrei.
Box Office: $38.3 milioni
Consigli: Jake Gyllenhaal regala una buona interpretazione degna di nota, perde tantissimo peso quasi a significare che il poco rimasto in fatto di carne è lo stesso rimasto al personaggio Lou in fatto di morale. Chiariamoci, Louis Bloom è disturbato e concepisce le relazioni umane in modo rigoroso e molto personale, quindi è difficile poter farne un esempio da studiare. In combutta con Nina Romina, i due costituiranno la coppia della disperazione, entrambi alla ricerca di un modo per sopravvivere e sopravviversi, disposti a tutto pur di riuscire in ciò che fanno e vogliono fare. Sono inquietanti e umanamente disgustosi. La tv qui è loro complice o, meglio, lo è quanto il pubblico che guarda.
Voyerismo mosrboso, quindi, impatto dei media, assenza di morale e ridefinizione del limite personale, tutti aspetti che concorrono a formare la storia di questa pellicola e che, come si capisce, non sono fatti esattamente per ogni tipo di spettatore. Non è un film facile, quindi prima di sceglierlo è bene essere pronti. A cosa? A salire sul furgone di quello spostato di Lou Bloom.

Critics' Choice Awards 2015: nomination e vincitori

Pensavamo tutti che con i Golden Globe e le nomination sfornate neanche 7 giorni fa fosse finita? Beh, ci sbagliavamo di grosso.
Più che la stagione dei premi sembra la gara a chi arriva primo a snocciolare le sue cinquine, comunque tant'è, non ci possiamo fare nulla: i Critics' Choice Awards 2015 sono tra noi con una valanga di nuove nomination per decretare i migliori tra i migliori dell'anno (2014, ma anche 2015 visto che delle pellicole devono ancora uscire. E non parlo dell'Italia).

Nell'attesa, come ribadito più volte, delle nomination agli Oscar, in arrivo tra un mese, ci crogioliamo in questa baraonda da decreto assoluto, in questa schizofrenica necessità di sancire il migliore dell'anno. Lo sappiamo tutti che poi solo gli Academy Awards avranno un peso a livello di immagine e vendite, ma hey!, un premio in più non può mica farci male.
I vincitori saranno annunciati venerdì 16 gennaio 2015.
