Oscars 2022: nomination e vincitori

Annunciate le nomination questa mattina all'alba (americana) con non poche difficioltà tecniche da Tracee Ellis Ross e Leslie Jordan, gli Oscar 2022 sono ufficialmente realtà. Tutto più o meno come previsto, anche se ci sono state alcune sorprese: niente nomination per Lady Gaga o Jennifer Hudson nella categoria Miglior attrice protagonista, niente di niente per "Passing" di Rebecca Hall, no cadidatura alla regia per Villeneuve (scandalo) come nemmeno per Maggie Gyllenhaal, anche se sono entrambi candidati alla sceneggiatura.
Belle sorprese quelle di Penélope Cruz e Judi Dench e belle conferme - dopo lo spavento dei BAFTA - di Kristen Stewart e Kirsten Dunst. Italia di nuovo in gara per il film straniero grazie a Sorrentino. Non mi aspettavo, invece, di vedere candidati Nicole Kidman e Javier Bardem per "Being the Ricardos".
Piccola curiosità: Penélope Cruz e Javier Bardem, Kirsten Dunst e Jesse Plemons sono tutti candidati nelle categorie attoriali e, nella vita vera, sono due coppie. Cruz e Bardem sono in lizza per gli attori protagonisti, mentre Dunst e Plemons per i non protagonisti.

Gli Oscar 2022 si terranno il 27 marzo 2022.

Film 2055 - No Time to Die

Intro: Faccio un balzo in avanti con le recensioni per anticipare quello che è il film del momento che ho visto al cinema il giorno di uscita, giovedì 30 settembre. Esattamente un anno prima, invece, mi trasferivo ufficialmente in Irlanda.

In sintesi: dopo averlo tanto atteso, aspettato e immaginato, finalmente l'ultimo James Bond è arrivato al cinema. Ultimo anche per il suo protagonista Daniel Craig che, alla sua quinta avventura da 007, saluta ufficialmente il franchise. Con il botto.
Già perché se "No Time to Die" parte un po' lentamente e sembra non ingranare inizialmente, la realtà è che, una volta preso il ritmo, la storia non delude, soprattutto grazie ad un finale che definire da bomba è dire poco. BOOM.
Devo ammettere che all'inizio, un po' inebetito dalla splendida cornice italiana di Matera - tanti ricordi dalla vacanza dell'anno scorso! - un po' esasperato dalla lunga attesa e desideroso di scoprire questa nuova storia, il film di Fukunaga mi è parso un filino complesso da seguire, con una trama particolarmente intricata di cui faticavo a tenere il passo. Ci sono tanti passati con cui fare i conti e questa volta non è il passato di Bond ad essere messo sotto la lente di ingrandimento, quanto quello della sua amata Madeleine Swann (Léa Seydoux), il che ingarbuglia ancora di più le carte in tavola. L'intricato intreccio si scioglierà lentamente e porterà alla ribalta anche le pericolose intenzioni di un cattivo che, però, risulta essere l'unico vero anello debole di tutta la storia.
Rami Malek nei panni di Lyutsifer Safin non è assolutamente il problema che, invece, risiede in una sceneggiatura che ha preferito optare per un antagonista "casuale", che sembra quasi lì per caso. Nonostante la classica minaccia globale (in questo caso inquietantemente preveggente, considerando che si parla di una sorta di virus su scala mondiale), il punto qui è che Lyutsifer e Bond non condividono alcun passato, non sono vecchi nemici, non hanno punti in comune non fosse che Bond deve salvare il mondo e Lyutsifer è il prossimo sulla lista a voler tentare il colpaccio. Poi sì, è vero che il cattivo sfigurato ha una connessione diretta con l'amore di Bond, Madeleine, ma per come viene sviluppata la storia il super villain di questa pellicola è più collaterale del previsto.
Parte del motivo sta nel fatto che la sceneggiatura - co-firmata dalla sempre più lanciata Phoebe Waller-Bridge e dallo stesso regista - avesse la necessità di portare avanti una narrazione in cui molti elementi avevano necessità di spazio: la love story di Bond e Madeleine, il passato oscuro della donna, vecchi nemici da riportare sullo schermo un'ultima volta e vecchi amici da salutare definitivamente, tutte le varie e necessarie scene action e, perno portante di tutta l'operazione, un finale shock che lascia lo spettatore a bocca aperta.
Tutto questo cinsiderato, "No Time to Die" è stato il grande spettacolo d'azione che doveva essere (anche se meno del solito) con un'ottima dose di elementi più profondi e ponderati per dare spazio alla crescita del personaggio che, da quando Craig è entrato in squadra, ha gradualmente guadagnato spazio nelle avventure di 007.
Insomma, "Bond 25" si è fatto a lungo attendere, ma ne è valsa sicuramente la pena. E ora la grande domanda: what's next for James Bond? Ps. Ana de Armas, che ha già lavorato con Craig in "Knives Out", ha un ruolo piccolo, veloce, ma veramente ben riuscito che rimane impresso.

Vale o non vale: Quest'anno ha portato con sé una certa dose di film "evento", molti dei quali lo sono stati più che altro come conseguenza della mancanza di numerose proposte cinematografiche valide e concorrenti. La realtà è che "No Time to Die" è uno dei pochi film evento del 2021, nonché appuntamento imperdibile per i fan del franchise e del Bond targato Daniel Craig. Da vedere.
